FROOM, Michala
As Michala Kettel, she was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark on 6 August 1925, the eldest child and only daughter of the two children of Karsten Kettel (1899-1973) and his wife Lilian Agnete née Brun (1903-1982), who married at Copenhagen on 5 July 1924. Michala spent her adult life in the UK, but she married at Nødeboon, Denmark on 9 December 1950, John Anthony Parsons (6 May 1928-16 February 1999), a research fellow at St Albans, Hertfordshire, and they had three children Benedict Lawrence (born 1952), Francesca Vivenda (born 1954) and Caroline Marianne (born 1959) but the marriage ended in divorce. Michala gained her master's degree in art therapy and was an occupational therapist and began to paint in 1960. She married secondly at St Albans in 1981, Rodney O'Connell Pope (8 November 1926-29 October 1989) and after the death of her second husband, she married thirdly in 1993, Jocelyn Froom (16 January 1920-30 January 2009), an engineer, when she painted under the name of Michala Froom. A landscape painter, with the coasts of Suffolk and Denmark and the Lot Valley of France being her inspiration. She was included in a three-artist exhibition at the Halesworth Gallery in 1999. Michala lived at The Old Post Office, Huntingfield, near Halesworth, Suffolk before moving to 22 Christchurch Road, Norwich. Michala Froom died on 3 December 2018.
