FRAMPTON, George Henry
George Henry Frampton was born at Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire on 29 April 1855 and baptised on 24 June 1855, second child of Joseph Frampton (1831-6 February 1914), a Metropolitan Police Constable, and his wife Eliza née Gilbert (1834-25 April 1916), who married at Fareham, Hampshire in 1854 and in 1861 29-year-old Joseph and 27-year-old Eliza were living at Albert Street, Alverstoke, Gosport with their children Elizabeth Jessie 7 and George Henry 5. In 1871, George was a 15-year-old pupil teacher, living with the family at Pitt Street, Portsea, Hampshire, and he married at Aston, Warwickshire in 1877, Harriette Moore (c1851-1937). By 1881, a 27-year-old P.E. teacher, living at New Street, Stradbroke, Suffolk with his 29-year-old wife Harriette, also a P.E. teacher, with two young children, Eily J. 2 and Muriel 1, both born at Stradbroke. In 1891, a public elementary schoolmaster, living at Queen's Head Street, Stradbroke with the addition of five more children, Reginald 9, Kathleen 7, Grace 5, Harold 3 and newly born Effie, and they were still there in 1911 with two, Kathleen and Effie, of their six surviving children, two further children had died, when George and Harriette and two of their children all worked in the local school. Geoge was a member at the Ipswich Art Club in 1889 when he exhibited from Stradbroke two items, 'Mary' a wax relief, and 'My Model Antonio' a pastel. His wife died at Epping, Essex in in 1937, aged 86 and in 1939, George was a retired elementary schoolmaster, living at 24 Lindsey Street, Epping, with two unmarried daughters Muriel and Effie. George Henry Frampton was still of 24 Lindsey Street, Epping when he died at Carisbrooke Nursing Home, Station Road, Epping on 18 November 1940, aged 85.
