Miranda Jane Marie Mott was born at Westminster, London on 6 July 1934, daughter of Tom Mott (22 August 1906-22 September 1990) and his wife Marie Marguerite Lily Helga Baumann (22 March 1905-19 March 1991), only daughter of Alfred Baumann, who married at All Saints Church, Ennismore Gardens, Knightsbridge, London on 1 December 1931. In 1939, Miranda's mother Maria was living with her parents, Alfred and Marie Baumann at Hunters Hill, Godstone, Surrey. Miranda studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in the 1950s. She married at Kensington, London in 1956, Sir John Austin Hungerford Leigh Hoskyns (23 August 1927-20 October 2014) and they had two sons and a daughter. Artist, printmaker and illustrator in oil, watercolour, intaglio and relief and a member of the Printmakers' Council 1981-1986; the Society of Wood Engravers from 1991; 12PM Twelve Printmakers and Gainsborough Printmakers, being chairman of Gainsborough's House Print Workshop from its opening 1979 until 1982. Miranda exhibited at the Royal Academy as Miranda Mott and as Miranda Hoskyns and has had solo exhibitions at Bury St Edmund's Gallery 1985; Quay Theatre, Sudbury 1995; St John's Smith Square 1996 and 'Roots & Origins' at Cambridge Arts, Fordham in 1999 also showing with the Royal Society of Etchers Open; The Print Consortium in America and elsewhere. Miranda has illustrated several books and is the author & illustrator of 'When the Wind Blew' by Miranda Hoskyns. Miranda is a member of the Royal Academy Schools East Anglia Group and signs her work M. J. Mott. She lived at 'Windrush', Great Waldingfield, Sudbury, Suffolk.
