As Margaret Ann Wallace, she was born at 145 Elwyn Road, March, Cambridgeshire on 16 March 1939 and baptised at St Mary's, March on 16 April 1939, daughter of Frederick William Arnold Wallace (19 February 1915-1991), a florist, and his wife Evelyn May née Muffett (24 January 1917-), who married at St Mary's Church, March, Cambridgeshire on 7 August 1937. Margaret spent her childhood on the South Coast and moved to Suffolk as a teenager. She married at Peterborough in 1979, author James Wyllie and went to live in Corfu, where she painted the rugged coastline with its incredible light. She studied at the University of East Anglia 1996-2000, graduating B.A. in art and design and went on to handle workshops for children and adults and undertake commissions, she has also collaborated with her husband, Jim Wyllie, by illustrating his series of children's books about Cedric the Seahorse. An artist in oils, acrylics and water colours, her work is influenced by the area around her Suffolk home, and she is a Member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited from 'Blue', The Street, Alderton, Suffolk in 1997 'Stones' and in 2006 three line & wash pictures 'Geese Preen in Christchurch Park', 'Work on the Mansion' and 'Views across the Lawn, Christchurch Park'. Her group exhibitions include Suffolk Open Studios, Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich with a solo exhibition at Haste Gallery, Ipswich.
