WOOD-WHITE, Bernard
Bernard Wood-White was born at 204 Hamstead Road, Handsworth, Staffordshire on 20 February 1890, eldest of the four children of Edward William Wood White (1855-22 March 1931), an ophthalmic surgeon to Birmingham Eye Hospital, and his wife Amelia Pauline née Glydon (1859-18 February 1945), who married at Kings Norton, Worcestershire in 1889. In 1911, Bernard was a 21-year-old medical student, still living at the same address with his parents, 55-year-old Edward and 51-year-old Amelia. Bernard was of 125 Norwich Road, Ipswich when he married at Chelsea, London in 1923, Hilary (Hilda) Dorothea Vere née Denning (31 March 1892-3 October 1987), widow of Arthur Sparrow (1893-16 November 1921), late of West Anstey Vicarage, near Dulverton, Devon, Sparrow was a captain in the R.A.F. when they married at St George's Hanover Square, London in 1918. In 1939, Bernard was Medical Officer for Suffolk County Council at County Hall, Ipswich, living at The Old Vicarage, Falkenham, near Ipswich with his wife Hilary. A member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club 1938-1943 from the Old Vicarage, Falkenham, and exhibited in 1941, six paintings 'Mill Stump, Trimley', 'Ipswich, south from the County Hall', 'The Abram Rydberg', 'Barge Lying in the Docks', 'The River Finn, Martlesham' and 'Lower Farm, Falkenham', in 1942 four works 'Kirton Creek', 'Malvern Hills', 'The Old Mill at Woodbridge' and 'Corporation Farm, Kirton' and in 1943 five oils 'Marsh Barn, Falkenham', 'The Bridge, St Ives', 'Falkenham Church from my Garden', 'Willows at Flatford' and 'View of Ipswich from County Hall'. Bernard Wood-White was of The Old Vicarage, Falkenham when he died at the East Suffolk and Ipswich Hospital on 22 December 1943.
