DAY, Christine Louisa

1913 - 2002

As Christine Louisa Mattin, she was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 17 August 1913, daughter of Henry Mattin (29 June 1863-1946), a carpenter, and his wife Ellen née Bloyce (17 December 1883-1958), who married in Tendring district, Essex in 1911 and in 1921 were living at 1 Fir Villa, Trimley St Mary, near Felixstowe, Suffolk with their two daughters Jessie and Christine and son George and Henry and Ellen were still living there in 1939. Christine married at Woodbridge in 1938, Cyril Francis Osslier Day (9 May 1911-1988), a garage manager, and in 1939 were living at 15 Graham Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk. A member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1969 and exhibited from 2 Second Avenue, Trimley St Mary, near Ipswich, several sculptures including in 1968, two alabaster 'Basking Seals' and 'Fish Form', in 1971 two alabasters 'Three Fishes' and 'Madonna' and a driftwood sculpture 'Fish' and in 1973 she exhibited a ciment fondu figure 'Cathy'. Christine Louisa Day died at Ipswich on 20 February 2002.
