EDWARDS, Vivian Florence

1910 - 2000

Vivian Florence Stanford Edwards was born at Maesteg, Glamorgan on 19 December 1910, daughter of George Thomas Edwards, a coal miner, and his wife Joan. In 1911, a newly born, living at 5 Maiden Street, Cwmfelin Middle Llangynwyd, Glamorgan with her parents, 32-year-old George and 31-year-old Joan, and five siblings, Thomas John 10, Albert Evan 8, William Stanley 5, Annie 3 and George Vincent 2, all born at Maesteg. In 1939, Vivian was a schoolteacher, living at 236 Carmel Road, Darlington, Co. Durham with two other unmarried schoolteachers. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1949-1974 and exhibited from 110 Belvedere Road, Ipswich in 1948, a watercolour 'Illumination', in 1949 'Tulips', in 1950 three watercolours 'The Evangelical Emblems', 'Good Friday' and 'Illumination' she also exhibited a similar title in 1952 which seems to have been her last. Vivian Florence Stanford Edwards died at Ipswich on 11 April 2000, she was unmarried.

A Miss V. Edwards exhibited at Ipswich Art Club in 1932 an illumination on vellum 'The Glory of the Garden' and an etching 'Beccles' which maybe by this artist.
