REDDROP, Dudley Reginald Thomas

Dudley Reginald Thomas Reddrop was born at Caversham, Reading, Berkshire on 21 January 1915, son of Reginald Tom Reddrop (1883-14 August 1916), a bank clerk, and his wife Marion Lukes (9 December 1881-1960), youngest daughter of Thomas Henry Lukes, who married at St Fimbarrus Church, Fowey, Cornwall on 7 February 1910. In 1911 they were living at 'Hillbraw', Harrogate Road, Caversham but Dudley's father was killed in action in 1916, aged just 32 and in 1932 his widowed mother Marion was living at 17 Flats, Florida Court, Reading, Berkshire. Dudley was a member of the 4th Battalion the Royal Berkshire Regiment and the author of a typed record 'A Wartime Log for British Prisoners', written by Captain Dudley Reginald Thomas Reddrop which is a biographical record of his war, starting with mobilisation in August 1939, his capture just before Dunkirk, then a large gap until after D-Day and finally his release in 1945. Dudley married at Romsey, Hampshire in 1954, Elisabeth Hannah Lewis (born May 1929). Listed as a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1958 but there are no references to him in the exhibition catalogues. Dudley Reginald Thomas Reddrop died at New Forest, Hampshire on 14 June 1999.
