SIMMONS, John
John D. Simmons was born in Ayrshire, Scotland around 1862 and in the mid 1880s was living at Holmbury St Mary, Surrey. In 1891, Simmons was a 29-year-old living on own means, at Midland Road, Bedford with his 54-year-old widowed mother Eliza Stowe and a stepsister, 29-year-old Jane Stowe. As J. D. Simmons, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1885-1888 from Holmbury St Mary, Dorking, Surrey but does not seem to have exhibited. John Simmons died in East Preston, Sussex in 1930.
