STRONG, Norman Gray

1909 - 1987

Norman Gray Strong was born at Kensington, London on 10 April 1909, son of Charles Strong (30 April 1867-14 July 1948), merchant, and his wife Annie Blanche née Freeman (23 September 1873-22 January 1951), who married at Fulham, London in 1899 and in 1939 were living at 55 Brondesbury Park, Willesden, London. In 1911, Norman was a one-year-old, living at 115 Elgin Crescent, Kensington, London with his parents, 41-year-old Charles and 37-year-old Annie with three siblings, the two eldest, Dorothy 10 and Edward 5 being born at Moscow, Russia. Norman married at Westminster in 1939, Bessie May Neville (14 April 1918-30 October 1995) and in 1939, Norman was an electrical engineer, living at 16 Park Street, Taunton, Somerset with his wife Bessie. As Lieut. N. Gray Strong, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1943-1948 and exhibited in 1943, two oil paintings 'Native Quarter, Algiers' and 'Gladioli' and in 1944 an oil 'Delphiniums', which was his last at Ipswich. Norman Gray Strong died at 1 West Park Road, Epsom, Surrey in 1987.
