Adrain Wincup

Adrian Clive Wincup was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1954, son of Donald Clive Wincup and his wife Betty I. née Belton (born 1930), who married at Lowestoft in 1953. Adrian's talent at painting came through at an early age, and at his school, one of the walls in the art class was nicknamed the 'Wincup Wall' and Adrian became keen artist. His last employer was Richards Shipbuilders of Lowestoft, when he sold paintings to fellow workers but in 1994, when the company closed, Adrian decided to become a professional painter, holding his first exhibition at the old Garden Gallery, Southwold, Suffolk in the same year. Adrian sails on the rivers and backwaters of the Norfolk Broads, gaining his inspiration as he glides past the reeds rustling in the summer breeze or becalmed on a still evening, with the red sky mirrored on the surface of the water and the banks of mist rolling off the marshes onto the river. He also draws his inspiration from the Mediterranean with its colourful, beauty and reflections of Venice Italy and the bright colours of flora against the white walls and narrow passageways of Greece and Spain. Adrian has held many successful exhibitions in Norwich, Lowestoft, Southwold, Aldeburgh and the Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings, plus numerous other venues in and around Norfolk and Suffolk. He married in the Waveney district of Suffolk in 1984, Alison V. Read (born 1957). A member of Suffolk Open Studios from 44 Kevington Drive, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
