GREENE, John
John Albert Greene was born at Dublin, Ireland on 16 March 1860, son of William Greene (1819-1881), a civil engineer, who was born on the Isle of Wight, and his wife Grace Mary (1829-1905), who was born in Ireland. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1890-1891 and in 1890 exhibited from 5 Newton Grove, Westbourne Grove, Paddington, London five paintings, 'A Member of the Primrose League', 'A Tea Party', 'Kathleen', 'Flowers of the Field' and an oil 'The Edge of the Wood'. In 1891, a 30-year-old artist painter, living at 5 Newton Grove, with his 60-year-old mother Grace, a widow, and in 1901 Greene was an unmarried artist living at 6 St Stephen's Crescent, Paddington with his 73-year-old mother Grace. In 1921 an unmarried artist, born in Dublin giving his age as 59, living at 49 Blenheim Crescent, Kensington. John Albert Greene, also known as John Albert Blake, of 49 Blenheim Crescent, Notting Hill died at 16 Ladbroke Gardens, Notting Hill, London on 15 September 1933, aged 74 leaving an estate of over £10,000.
