ROBINSON, Aline May

1885 - 1938

As Aline May Wills, she was born at 80 Chorley Road, Bolton, Lancashire in 1885, eldest child and only daughter of Herbert Wills, a schoolmaster, and his wife Harriet Ada née Ashton, who married at High Grew, Yorkshire in 1884. In 1901, Aline was a 15-year-old, living at 51 Hastings Road, Eccleshall Barlow, Sheffield with her parents, 43-year-old Herbert, now a mechanical engineer, and 38-year-old Harriet and three siblings, Herbert 13 and Thomas 12, both born at Bolton and Harry 3, born at Sheffield. She married at Montgomery Wesleyan Chapel, Brincliffe, Sheffield on 16 December 1908, Revd John Robert Robinson, a Wesleyan Minister, and in 1911 she was living at 79 Albert Avenue, Hull with her 35-year-old husband and 7-week-old daughter Kathleen May. Aline was a member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from St Barnabus, Hull in 1908, four watercolours 'A Shropshire Garden', 'Abor, North Wales', 'Purple Loosestrife' and 'A Medley'. Aline May Robinson died back at Sheffield in 1938, aged 53.
