WALKER, James Frederic
James Frederic Walker was born at Tunbridge Wells, Kent on 19 April 1858, youngest son of David Walker, a gardener, and his wife Elizabeth née Bladen, who married at Tifnal, Shropshire in 1849. In 1861, James was a 2-year-old, living at Calverley Farm, Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells with his parents, 38-year-old David and 40-year-old Elizabeth and three elder siblings, George 10, John James 8 and Frank 6, all born at Oldbury, Shropshire. James married at Museum Street Chapel, Ipswich on 19 November 1885, Lizzie (Belle) Isabella Mallett (1858-27 June 1930), only daughter of John Mallett, editor of the 'Suffolk Chronicle'. In 1891, James was a 32-year-old draper, living at 122 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich with his 33-year-old wife Lizzie, born Ipswich and two daughters Violet Maud 3 and Ethel Madelyn Walker, who were also born at Ipswich. In 1911, James was a 52-year-old commercial traveller, still at 122 Woodbridge Road with his 53-year-old wife and a third daughter, 16-year-old Nora Gladys. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1912-1916 but does not seem to have exhibited from Woodbridge Road or from a new address in 1913, 26 Fonnereau Road, Ipswich. His wife Lizzie died at 19 Jupiter Road, Ipswich on 27 June 1930, aged 72 and James Frederic Walker, who in 1939 was a retired commercial traveller, was still living at 19 Jupiter Road, Ipswich, but died at the home of his daughter Violet Maud Hosken (3 December 1887-8 November 1989), at 9 St Peters Road, Droitwich, Worcestershire on 26 February 1941, aged 82.
