MILNE, Edith Louisa
Edith Louisa Milne was born at 16 Endelsham Road, Balhaam, London in 1882 and baptised at St Luke's Church in Battersea, London on 3 July 1882, third child of William Oswald Milne (1847-31 August 1927), the architect of the interior of Claridge's Hotel, London, and his wife Louisa Katherine Partridge (1847-2 March 1927), fourth daughter of Frederick Robert Partridge (29 March 1815-24 April 1878), a solicitor of Kings Lynn, who married at Caston Parish Church, Norfolk on 9 January 1879 and both were born and died in the same years. Her brother was Oswald Partridge Milne (14 February 1881-15 January 1968) also an architect in partnership with his father at 44 Great Marlborough Street, London and both father and son were also artists who exhibited at the Royal Academy. In 1911, Edith was a 28-year-old, living at Dial Cottage, Chipstead, Surrey with her parents, 64-year-old William and 64-year-old Louisa. Shortly after the First World War, William and Louisa with daughter Edith moved to 35 Berners Street, Ipswich where her father and mother were living at their deaths in 1927. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1922-1924, from 35 Berners Street and exhibited in 1923 'Ludlow Castle'. On the death of her parents in 1927, she moved away from Ipswich. Edith Louisa Milne was of Calvery Lodge, Tunbridge Wells, Kent when she died at 8 Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells on 2 September 1965, aged 83, she was unmarried.
