MILLER, Miss Eliza
Eliza Miller was born at Tunstall, Suffolk on 23 January 1835 and baptised on 23 February 1835, daughter of William Miller and his wife Eliza, the Miller's were farmers at Boyton, Suffolk. Miss E. Miller was a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1875-1879 and exhibited in 1875 'Home' but nothing in any other years of her membership. The 1875 catalogue does not give an address for this exhibitor. Eliza married at Paddington Parish Church, London on 16 January 1861, Robert Johnson (30 August 1836-27 August 1901). She was described as 'a very clever landscape painter' and was the mother to both Charles Johnson and Constance Marion Johnson and in the early 1870s they moved to Boyton Hall, Suffolk. Eliza Johnson was of the Colonial College, Hollesley Bay, Suffolk when she died on 30 August and was buried at Boyton St Andrew Church on 2 September 1899. Eliza Miller may have painted under her maiden name, as she was Eliza Johnson in 1875, but maybe another member of the family.
