LOWE, Marshall Herbert
Marshall Herbert Lowe was born at Nottingham on 4 September 1855, son of Job Lowe (13 January 1827-1893), a rail goods agent, and his wife Sarah née Wicks, who marred at St George's Hanover Square, London in 1848. In 1871, Marshall was a 15-year-old reporter, living at Great Whip Street, Ipswich with his 43-year-old mother Sarah, born Edmonton and three siblings, John Benjamin 22, born at Peterborough, Charles Frederick 19, born at Sandy, Cambridgeshire, and Howard Piercy 17, born at Leeds. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1876, when he exhibited four paintings, 'Fishing', 'A Church', 'Labourers' Cottages' and 'Wherstead Church'. By 1881, a 25-year-old shorthand writer, living at 1 Oldbury Villas, Nags Head Lane, Enfield, Middlesex, the home of his 54-year-old uncle, Astley Savage and his family and by 1901 had moved on to 31 Brook Street, St George the Martyr, Southwark and in 1921 was boarding at 165 Fentiman Road, Lambeth, London. In 1939, Marshall Herbert Lowe was incapacitated, a patient in Wandsworth Hospital where he died in 1940, aged 84.
