CHAPMAN, Joan Margaret
Joan Margaret Chapman was born at Ipswich on 10 July 1923, daughter of Francis Richard Chapman (1 July 1891-1968), a schoolmaster, and his wife Madeline Grace née Hudson (born 20 July 1896), who married at Ipswich in 1921. In 1939, they were living at Bourne Lodge, Wherstead Road, Ipswich. Joan was an associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1944-1962 but had exhibited in 1942, two works 'Air-Minded Youth' and 'Ever Again?', in 1943 two oils, 'Roses' and 'Reflection', in 1944 an oil 'Procession' and exhibited from Bourne Lodge in 1946, an oil 'The Last Crust' and in 1947, another oil 'Eastern Pageant' but does not seem to have exhibited again. Joan Margaret Chapman died at Flat 3, 26 Fonnereau Road, Ipswich on 7 April 1985, she was unmarried.
