JORDAN, Reginald Ernest

1904 - 1983

Reginald Ernest Samuel Jordan was born at Westbourne Park, London on 31 March 1904, only son of Frederick Walter Jordan (29 May 1878-26 March 1949), an analytical chemist, and his first wife Emily née Scott, who died in 1907, aged 27, and in 1909 Frederick married secondly Florence Hilda née Barnard (11 March 1880-15 March 1959). In 1911, Reginald was a 7-year-old, living at 14 Kellerton Road, Lee, London with his 32-year-old father Frederick and 31-year-old stepmother Florence, with an elder sister Ethel Evelyn 8. Reginald studied at St Martin's School of Art, London and served in the Royal Marines as a photographer and in 1939 was living at Kensington Square Gardens, London. He was later worked as a schoolteacher in Kent and at Chelmsford, Essex whilst producing artwork for carriage prints for the London North-East Railway in their Post-War series. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1972-1974+ and exhibited from Flat 4, 47 Maltese Road, Chelmsford, Essex in 1973, three oils 'Mid-Summer', 'Evening, Pin Mill' and 'Finchingfield' and exhibited three pictures in each of 1972 and 1974. Reginald Ernest Samuel Jordan died at Chelmsford on 17 October 1983.
