JENKINS, Dorothy Coxeter

1909 - 1985

As Dorothy Coxeter Pearce, she was born at 72 Lisvane Street, Cardiff, Glamorganshire on 22 September 1909, second of the three daughters and an only son of Albert Allen Pearce (20 April 1871-25 September 1948), an artificial limb maker, and his wife Emily née Ayliffe (24 May 1877-15 August 1950), who married at Cardiff in 1904, and in 1939 were living at Pentyrch Street, Cardiff, Dorothy's grandmother's maiden name was Coxeter. In 1911, Dorothy was a one-year-old, living at Lisvane Street, Cardiff with her parents, 39-year-old Albert and 34-year-old Emily, with her sibling sister, three-year-old Muriel Ayliffe. Dorothy married at Cardiff in 1935, Clifford George Jenkins (27 November 1907-20 March 1986). In 1939, she was living at 189 Wentlooe Road, Cardiff with her husband Clifford, a manager at a petrol distributor. An exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club from 134 Mill Lane, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1977, 'The Secret Place' also exhibiting one painting the following year and two in 1980 'Joyful Morning' and 'Apple Pickers'. Dorothy Coxeter Jenkins died at Ipswich on 24 June 1985.
