JENKINSON, Beryl

1906 - 2012

As Winifred Beryl Dowsett, she was born at 'Chisholm', Chatsworth Road, Brighton, Sussex on 6 August 1906, only daughter of Ernest Alfred Dowsett (30 August 1874-14 September 1952), a congregational minister, and his wife Sophie Winifred, née Joslin (26 December 1871-3 August 1971), who married at Aveley Congregational Church, Essex on 10 August 1899 and in 1939 were living at Cottage, Chesterfield Road, Eastbourne. In 1911, Winifred was a 4-year-old, living at 54 Tressillian Road, Brockley, Deptford, London SE with her parents, 36-year-old Ernest and 39-year-old Sophie, and they retained two indoor servants. Winifred married at Westminster Chapel, Buckingham Gate, London on 24 January 1929, Harold Edgar Jenkinson (16 March 1891-8 March 1972), a chartered accountant, and they had three daughters and in 1939 were living at White Lodge, East Retford, Nottingham. Winifred was a member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from The Coach House, Lower Ufford, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1977, one picture 'Self Sown' and one picture in each of the two following years and two in 1980 'A Mixed Bunch' and 'New Street, Woodbridge'. She later moved to Manor Farm House, Wood Lane, Farnham, Surrey and Winifred Beryl Jenkinson died on 31 January 2012, aged 105.
