Eleonaro Knowland

As Eleonora Eiske Pegram, she was born in Holland in June 1952 and at the age of three, moved to London and was educated at Rudolph Steiner school, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. Eleonora married in the Blyth district of Suffolk in 1976, Oliver Hugh Knowland, a Suffolk farmer, and paints under the name of Eleonora Knowland. Eleonora obtained Certificate of Education at Anglia Polytechnic University and an Art ‘A’ level at City College Norwich 1996–1999 followed by Access to Art & Design 2000–2003 and a B.A. (hons) in Fine Art 2003–2006 from Colchester School of Art. A part time lecturer at City College, Norwich 1991–2000 and at Otley College near Ipswich 1999–2001. Eleonara has lived in East Anglia for over 30 years and much of her creative inspiration is derived from the open Suffolk landscape, the muted colours express the tranquillity, harmony, and immensity of horizon around her Suffolk home. Using curved canvases, her paintings are informed by the soft rolling undulations of nature with stitched lines, formed in the structure of the canvas, which allude to agricultural and habitation practices that have shaped the landscape. She has had solo or two person exhibitions at the Frame Workshop & Gallery, Ipswich; Buckenham Galleries, Southwold; Bank Arts Centre, Eye; Halesworth Gallery; Fisher Theatre Gallery, Bungay all in Suffolk; Life Café Gallery, Colchester; Digby Gallery, Colchester; Colne Gallery, Colchester Hospital; Naze Tower, Essex; Lesley Craze Gallery, London and elsewhere and many group shows including The Studio by the Creek, Brightlingsea; Gainsborough's House Gallery, Sudbury and Blackthorpe Barn, Bury St Edmund's. Her studio is at Grove House, Low Road, Denham, Suffolk.
