FISON, Kathleen Mary

1908 - 1993

Kathleen Mary Fison was born at Hindhead, Surrey on 29 June 1908, daughter of Frederick Flint Fison (1876-14 January 1919), a schoolmaster, and his wife Ethel Mary Fison née Prentice, who married at Stowmarket, Suffolk on 11 April 1903. In 1911, Kathleen was a 2-year-old, living at Shelbrook Boarding House, Cliff Terrace, Hunstanton, Norfolk with her parents, 35-year-old Frederick, born Combs, Suffolk and 41-year-old Ethel, born Stowmarket and her sibling brother, 5-year-old Joseph Edward, born at Hereford. A watercolour, figure and landscape painter and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1930-1934, who exhibited from Homefield, Felixstowe, Suffolk including, in 1931 two watercolours 'Tretien, Switzerland' and 'Church in the Mountains' and in 1933 a watercolour 'Bygone Days' later exhibits are conflated with her mother. The subjects included figure studies, buildings and landscapes in Italy and Scotland. In 1939, Kathleen was a V.A.D. nursing auxiliary & Red Cross nurse, living at 111 Woodstock Road, Oxford with her widowed mother. Kathleen Mary Fison died at 9 Ritchie Court, 380 Banbury Road, Oxford on 25 August 1993, she was unmarried.
