Susie Yates

As Susan J. G. MacLachlan, she was born at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in 1959, daughter of John Alan Stewart MacLachlan (born 1932) and his wife Jennifer Jane née Gaffney (born 1936), who married at Weymouth, Dorset in 1957. Susie was educated at Ockbrook School, Derbyshire 1971–1977, Exeter College of Art 1977–1980 gaining a B.A. Fine Art and at Bretton Hall College of Further Education 1982–1983. As Susan MacLachlan, she married in 1991, Robert E. Yates and paints under the name of Susie Yates. An artist and Head of Art at Framlingham College 1989-1992 and Head of Junior Art and Design Technology at Saint Felix School, Southwold 1996-2011 and a part-time 'A' level Textile Teacher 2011-2016 when she retired. A painter of landscape and figurative paintings in coloured inks and mixed media and a sculptor of voluptuous figures in terracotta and copper resin and took up quilting in 2011 and at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in 2018 was crowned champion in the Quilt Creations category. A member of Suffolk Open Studios and has a studio at Town Fen, London Road, Brampton, Beccles, Suffolk which is also the home of the family firm of Brampton Willows. Susie contributed to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013 'A View from Home'.
