LUCAS, Kay

1955 - ?

As Kay R. Cocksedge, she was born at Ipswich in 1955, daughter of Kenneth F. Cocksedge and his wife Sylvia I. née Brock, who married at Ipswich in 1949. After school Kay studied at Goldsmiths College, London on a teacher training course specialising in art and design. She married at Ipswich in 1976, Peter David Lucas and paints under name of Kay Lucas. In 1999 Kay and her family moved back to Suffolk when she decided to retire from the teaching profession to concentrate on her artwork. Kay paints mainly atmospheric scenes of East coast estuaries, as well as boats and their reflections, getting her inspiration from the local estuaries and wide-open skies. Her favoured medium is pastel but is now also painting abstract work in acrylic. A member of Mellis Arts with a studio at Hollyhocks, 8 Columbine Way, Gislingham, Suffolk.
