WEBB-BOWEN, Evelyn Florence

1910 - 2001

As Evelyn Florence Lane, she was born at Heston Hall, Middlesex on 30 December 1910, youngest daughter of Col. Cecil Alexander Lane (11 July 1860-28 January 1950), an army surgeon, who was born in Bombay, India, and his wife Evelyn Phyllis Helen Lane (13 September 1879-26 October 1972), who was born in Australia and died at 9 Flixton Road, Bungay, Suffolk. Young Evelyn married at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, London on 1 June 1929, Mostyn Hird Wheeler Webb-Bowen and they had an only daughter Mary Elizabeth Webb-Bowen, who married John Mark Alexander Colville, 4th Viscount Colville of Culross (1933-2010). On Evelyn's husband's retirement from the army in 1945, they moved to Beccles, Suffolk where she was a member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists and the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle in 1972 from Beccles. Evelyn Florence Webb-Bowen died at Beccles on 21 May 2001.
