Andrei Costache

Andrei Costache was born at Constanta, Romania in 1983 where, as a young child, he enjoyed drawing and developed a fascination with the works of Freud. He studied architecture at Ion Mincu University, Bucharest University 2004-2008 but was unable to finish his degree. He then came to England studying at University Campus Suffolk at Ipswich 2011-2014, gaining his B.A. (hons) Fine Art, and proceeded to an M.A. in Sculpture from Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, London 2016-2018. Andrei was based in Ipswich and is an artist who creates architectural work, installations, sculptures, and paintings. His work focuses on future developments of technological evolution and new identity in the contemporary society, and he won the Suffolk Art Society Prize, Ipswich 2012 in recognition of his art practice. He has worked in collaborations with Claydon Architectural Metalwork and University Campus Suffolk on award winning projects. After spending six years in London, in 2022 Andrei Costache returned to his hometown of Constanta, Romania. Costache's works have been exhibited in galleries and festivals internationally including Saatchi exhibition at Ipswich Art School; Aldeburgh Lookout Residency and Solo Show, 'The Future' Ipswich; Residency Chatillon sur Indre Art Festival, France; 'Flood Tide' UCS; Span exhibition at Great Yarmouth Art Festival and SNIP Exhibition at Aldeburgh Festival in 2013. He was awarded the Aquigen Futura Park public sculpture commission at Ipswich in 2013 and his work is in private collections including Caroline Wiseman Modern and Contemporary and Sir Michael Gambon.
