HOSEA, John Douglas

1910 - 2003

John Douglas Hosea was born at Perth, Australia on 14 November 1910, son of John Hosea (9 August 1882-3 September 1958) of 16 Spens Crescent, Perth, Scotland, and his wife Elizabeth née Douglas (died 1943). In 1937 young John passed his examinations at the Scottish National College of Massage, Medical Electricity and Chiropody at Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. He served in the R.A.M.C. during the Second World War, being taken prisoner on 23 May 1940 being imprisoned at Stalag 80, after being missing in action until a letter home on 17 March 1941. A member of the Beccles Society of Artists 1977-1990 and was president of the Oulton Broad Art Circle. He married at Hertford in 1947, Jean M. Stubbs (3 May 1916-2002) and in 2002 they were living at 11 Commodore Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk. John Douglas Hosea John died at 11 Commodore Road, Lowestoft in 2003. An exhibition of his works was held at Picturecraft Gallery at Holt, Norfolk in 2010.
