KETTLESS, Alonzo William Percy
Alonzo William Percy Kettless was born at 1 Alma Street, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 18 December 1912, son of Percy Harry Kettless (1891-1920) and his wife Elsie Mabel née Mills (1893-1977), who married at Lowestoft in 1912, after the death of her husband, Elsie married secondly in 1941, Christopher Johnson. Alonzo married in 1936, Rose Doreen Louisa Knights (21 September 1914-11 December 1996) and they lived in North Suffolk for the remainder of their lives. In 1939, Alonzo, a carpenter & joiner, was living at 15 Washington Road, Reading, Berkshire, with his wife living at Kirkley Run, North Lowestoft, Suffolk. A member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists and the author of several books on wood decoration including 'Modern Woodwork' (1969), 'Decorative Woodwork' (1970) and 'Designs for Wood' (1975) and may not have been an artist painter. Alonzo William Percy Kettless lived at Hunters Green, The Street, North Cove, Suffolk. Alonzo William Percy Kettless died on 17 April 2006 and buried beside his wife at St Botolphs, North Cove, Suffolk. Suffolk Record Office, Lowestoft have a file on his work (1176/1/2/11/47).
