Damian Woodford

Damian Charles Woodford was born at Beverley, East Yorkshire in 1972, son of Edward L. Woodford (born 1940) and his wife Irene née Johansen, who married at Holderness in 1965. Damian studied at Lancaster University 1991-1994, gaining a B.A. (hons) in English Literature, proceeding to Cyprus College of Art, for a residency at the Cyprus Summer Studio, and then at the University of York 1997-1999 for his Masters in Painting. Resident Artist at Chives Montessori School, Ipswich, working with children aged 2–8 on creative and artistic skills, then worked for Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, Knaresborough as Arts Administration & Information Officer and a lecturer at Hull University. Damian then moved to Scarborough, working for the Museum Service and was curator of Scarborough Art Gallery and Exhibitions Officer & Workshop Leader for Crescent Arts, Scarborough, managing the exhibition programme, studio complex and devising workshops. In 2008 he relocated to London working as a freelance artist for Coin Street Community Builders, a social enterprise in the heart of the South Bank, and a freelance artist at Studio 117, Wimbledon Art Studios, Riverside Road, London and has an online bookstore and is the author of several books. He operates his London studio in tandem with a space on the Suffolk coast in Felixstowe, Suffolk where his mother resides. Website: http://damianwoodford.com
