RUSHBROOKE, Barham
Barham Rushbrooke was born on 5 March 1721 and baptised at Honington, Suffolk on 5 April 1721, only son of Robert Rushbrooke (1672-21 November 1755) of Honington, Suffolk and his wife Susannah née Barham (1688-8 November 1763). Barham was educated at Bury St Edmund's Grammar School from 1730 and admitted at Lincoln's Inn on 11 March 1740. He married at West Stow, Suffolk on 19 January 1749, Elizabeth Edwards (1733-24 August 1794), daughter and heiress of John Edwards of West Stow and they had an only son Robert Rushbrooke (1752-1829) of Rushbrooke Park, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk. A portrait painter and a painter of miniatures who painted a caricature of Lieut. General Charles Lee, who was appointed by the U.S. Congress to high command in the rebel army in June 1775 which has been engraved several times. His painting of Belchazzar's Feast hung in Rushbrooke House before its demolition. Barham Rushbrooke died on 18 November and was buried at West Stow on 27 November 1782, aged 61.
