MILLARD, Stephen

Stephen C. Millard was born at Hatfield, Hertfordshire in 1948, son of Frederick Thomas Ernest Millard (28 December 1917-1994) and his wife Betty May née Foster (19 March 1920-2016), who married at Hatfield in 1939. Stephen spent his childhood around Hatfield and where he studied art. After spending some time in Salisbury, Wiltshire, he married at Ipswich in 1980, Yvonne P. White and in 2004 moved to Felixstowe, Suffolk where his home and studio are now based. He mostly works in oils but uses acrylics and other media and many of his paintings are based on the Suffolk landscape and coastal areas, with a little splash of the North Cornish coast. He captures the different feelings of the landscape and sea at various times of the day and in different seasons and then develops his paintings beyond the actual scene and colours so that his finished works have an individual and contemporary character. He exhibits at 'Art on the Prom' at Felixstowe and at Snape Maltings Galleries, Suffolk.
