Steve Joyce

Stephen Edward Joyce was born at Birkenhead, Cheshire in 1958, son of Edward J. Joyce and his wife Mary Winifred née McCaffrey, who married at Birkenhead in 1948. Steve was educated at Heartsease High School, Norwich and studied at Norwich School of Art gaining a B.A. (hons) Fine Art in 1995 followed in 1999 by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from City College Norwich, he also studied on short courses at St Martin's School of Art, London 2007-2008. He married at Norwich in 1986, Susan J. Golding. Since completing a master's degree in Contemporary Art & Profession at Colchester Institute in 2012 and teaching full-time in further education, Steve coordinated the AA2A Artists in Residency scheme for Chelmsford College being graded second best provider in their first year and in their second year attained first place as best provider of the scheme nationally. An artist and lecturer working in creative industries, dividing time between personal art practice, commissions, teaching, and gallery work. Steve uses mainly collage but also works using printmaking, painting, and drawing, working independently as an artist but also collaboratively on projects including site-specific work and other exhibition projects. Steve has exhibited regularly throughout East Anglia, including Bury St Edmund's; Chelmsford; Colchester; Felixstowe; Hadleigh; Halesworth and Norwich, also showing at Townhouse Gallery, Taunton and Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada. He has his studio at Newbury Road, Ipswich.
