HAYWARD, Ruby Grace
Ruby Grace Hayward was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk on 30 January 1902, daughter of Leonard William Hayward (1861-23 September 1933), roller flour miller, and his wife Jane Edith née Grimwood (26 March 1864-7 November 1953), who married at Boxmoor, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire on 10 June 1891. In 1911, Ruby was a 9-year-old, living at The Highlands, Woodbridge with her parents, 49-year-old Leonard, born at Melton, near Woodbridge and 47-year-old Jane, born at Hampstead, London, and they retained a governess and two indoor servants. An artist in oil of figures and landscape and an associate member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1930-1939, but had exhibited in 1923 two oil paintings, 'Firebrass Covert' and 'Peace' and she exhibited from Highlands, Woodbridge in 1930 four paintings, 'The Dinner Hour', 'The Dolls Trousseau', 'The Paper Chase' and 'The Smuggler's Beach' and the following year seems to have re-exhibited two works 'The Dinner Hour' and 'The Smuggler's Beach'. In 1939 Ruby was living at Highlands, Fitzgerald Road, Woodbridge with her brother and her widowed mother. Ruby Grace Hayward died at 'Haywards', Victoria Road, Woodbridge on 30 July 1977, she was unmarried.
