JAMES, Roy
Roy W. James was born in Bermondsey, London in January 1940, son of Alfred John James (1910-5 March 1969), a printer, and his wife Ellen née Miller (16 September 1910-14 December 2014), who married at St James's Church, Bermondsey on 16 September 1933 and in 1939 they were living at 25 Snowsfields, Bermondsey. Roy is a habitual doodler who enjoys sketching quick portraits of those around him which is not always welcomed. Roy paints in oil and acrylics and, to avoid too much detail, with palette knives, he also carves soapstone into abstract shapes. In June 2015 he married Susan Adcock. A member of Mellis Arts from Weybridge House, Earlsford Road, Mellis, Eye, Suffolk.
