ELLISTON, William
William Elliston was born at Ipswich on 3 August 1812 and baptised at St Matthews Church, Ipswich on 14 August 1812, son of William Elliston and his wife Mary Ann née Finch. A member of the Ipswich Society of Professional & Amateur Artists from 1834, where he was tutored by Henry Davy. He married at St Nicholas church, Ipswich on 12 December 1837, Amelia Bowman (1816-7 December 1884), daughter of Robert Bowman, a publican. In 1851, a 38-year-old M.R.C.S. and general practitioner, living at Manor House, St Peter's Street, Ipswich with his 35-year-old wife Amelia and five children, Robert Bowman 12, William Alfred 10, George Sampson 6, Amelia Mary 4 and Alice Jane 1, all born at Ipswich. William Elliston died at Ipswich on 12 January and was buried at St Peter's church, Ipswich on 18 January 1864.
