SPARKE, Kate Adeliza
Kate Adeliza Sparke was born at Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 27 November 1864 and baptised Adeliza Kate on 12 January 1865, youngest daughter of George Sparke, a turner, and his second wife Elizabeth née Cooper, who married at St Mary's Church, Bury St Edmund's on 17 July 1860, George's first wife was Assenath Mott (1832-1857), only daughter of Clare farmer, Joseph Mott, who had married at Bury St Edmund's on 5 May 1854 and they had a son Frederick born on 13 December 1857. In 1881, Kate was a 15-year-old scholar, living at 77 Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmund's with her parents, 50-year-old George and 46-year-old Elizabeth, who were both born at Clare, Suffolk, with sibling sister Isabella A. 19. As Miss K. Sparke, Bury, was highly commended for her sketch 'Clay Hall, Fornham' at the Bury St Edmunds Fine Art Society exhibition held at the Town Hall, Bury St Edmund's in 1886. As Adelina Kate Sparke, she married at St Mary's Church, Bury St Edmund's on 15 July 1889, Edward Crook (1862-14 December 1919) and they moved to Norwich. In 1891, a 26-year-old wife, living at Mill Road Hill, Norwich with her 29-year-old husband Edward, a bank clerk, and their newly born son George Gustavus. In 1911, with Edward now a bank manager, they were living at 190 Unthank Road, Norwich with the addition of a daughter 13-year-old Irene Gwendoline and in 1921 a widow living at 26 Christchurch Road, Norwich, Norfolk. As Adeliza Kate Crook, she was of 26 Christchurch Road when she died at 212 Thorpe Road, Norwich on 10 November, aged 74.
