HINNELL, Maud Martha
Maud Martha Hinnell was baptised at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 3 April 1864, eldest daughter of George John Hinnell (18 November 1823-28 April 1899), a surgeon, and his wife Louisa Squier (1830-13 January 1902), eldest daughter of Joseph Squier, who married at East Horndon, Essex on 16 February 1860. In 1871, Maud was a 7-year-old, living at 82 Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmund's with her parents, 47-year-old George and 41-year-old Louisa, and siblings John George (1861-1935), Joseph Squier (1862-1942), Alice Mary (1868-1953) and Ellen Louise (1870-1946). Maud studied at Bury St Edmund's and as Miss M. Hinnell of Bury, from 1882 she exhibited at the Bury St Edmund's Fine Art Society and in 1889 had on show a watercolour, 'A View of Mustow Street, Bury St Edmund's'. In 1891, a 27-year-old art student, living at Holland Park Gardens, Kensington, London, the home of her uncle, William Strange and his family. She married at St John's Church, Bury St Edmund's on 10 September 1895, George Frederick Windle (1862-22 October 1931), son of Revd John Windle, vicar of Horndon-on-Hill, Essex. In 1901, Maud was the 37-year-old wife of 39-year-old George, a bank clerk, living at Hill House, 1 Fairview Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope, Orsett, Essex. Her husband died at Moss Cottage, Little Cornard, Sudbury, Suffolk on 22 October 1931 and Maud Martha Windle died at St Edmund's Hotel, Angel Hill, Bury St Edmund's, where she had lived for several years, on 25 October 1958, aged 94.
