BLYTH, Margaret Ellen

1886 - 1985

Margaret Ellen Blyth was born at Clipton Rectory, Northamptonshire on 24 November 1886, daughter of Revd Cecil Frederick Blyth (1852-14 August 1913), rector of Clipton 1883-1888, then of Wetheringsett 1888-1903 finally that of the Rickinghalls, both in Suffolk, and his wife Anne Elizabeth Cowper Blyth née Johnson, who married at Northwold, Norfolk on 27 May 1884. In 1891, Margaret was a 4-year-old, living at Wetheringsett-cum-Brockford Rectory in Suffolk with her parents, 38 year old Cecil and 37 year old Anne, with her two younger brothers Ernest William (1888-1969) and newly born Arthur Cecil (1890-1961), another brother Reginald Edward was born the later that year and was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy and died at the Battle of Jutland on HMS Barham, 5th Battle Squadron on 31 May 1916. Margie, as she was known, was friends with the Hasted family at Brooke House, Rickinghall and, like Violet Grace Moor Hasted, was a serious amateur artist. In 1911, Margie was a 24-year-old living at Rickinghall Rectory with her parents, her brothers were absent. She married at Blofield, Norwich on 21 July 1915, farmer Gerald Cozens-Wiley (10 September 1879-20 November 1958) and they had a son and three daughters. Margaret Ellen Cozens-Wiley died at The White House, Little Plumstead, Norwich on 11 November 1985.
