YOUNG, Pamela Cameron

As Pamela Louise Cameron Young, she was born at Ipswich on 3 February 1905, elder daughter of Dr Alister Cameron Young (1880-18 January 1956), M.R.C.S., and his wife Gertrude Septima Devey (1889-24 January 1952), daughter of Septimus Devey of Market Harborough, who married at St Mark's Church, South Audley Street, London on 5 January 1904. As Pamela Cameron Young, she exhibited at the Ipswich Fine Art Club from 'Brightwell', 1 Rushmere Road/Woodbridge Road, Ipswich in 1927, 'Pencil Sketches', at that time her father had his clinic at 89 Berners Street, Ipswich. Pamela married at Ipswich in 1928, Sydney Leo Gregory Pope (27 March 1897-3 November 1980), a flight-lieutenant in the RAF, and their daughter Felicity M. was born at Ipswich in 1929. In 1939, Pamela was living at The Old Vicarage, Hungerford, Berkshire with a Miss Mollie Bruce and in 1947, together with children Felicity M. 17 and Michael 14, they were staying with Lady Eve Balfour at Edinburgh House, Theberton, near Aldeburgh, Suffolk before they sailed for Canada. Her husband served his working life in the Royal Air Force and was decorated for gallantry before retiring with the rank of Air Commodore in 1946. Sometimes her maiden name is hyphenated Cameron-Young
