GORROD, Hilda Doris
As Hilda Doris Crisp, she was born at 34 Ingate Road, Beccles, Suffolk on 8 November 1908, daughter of James Crisp (8 August 1866-1955), a house decorator, and his wife Laura née Howard (15 June 1868-1948), who married at Saxmundham, Suffolk in 1889. In 1901, Hilda was living at 34 Ingate Road, Beccles with her parents, 44-year-old James and 43-year-old Laura with six siblings, George Edward James 20, Arthur Frederick 18, May Ladysmith 11, Alice Rose 10, Harry 8 and newly born Jack Sidney, all born at Bungay or Beccles. Hilda married at Wangford, Suffolk in 1935, William George Gorrod (21 November 1901-1 April 1972), a grocer's manager. In 1939, they were living at 35 Denmark Road, Beccles, Suffolk. A member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists and in 1972 she was living at 97 Grove Road, Beccles. Hilda Doris Gorrod died at Beccles on 29 March 2000.
