1943 - 2019

David Thomas Parsons was born at Birmingham in 1943, son of Charles Thomas Roy Parsons (1922-4 November 1988), an engineer, and his wife Dorothy Mary née Hughes (15 May 1925-11 January 1997), who married at Birmingham in 1942. David studied at Birmingham School of Art 1959-1963 and University of Newcastle upon Tyne-Fine Art 1963-1965 and met his wife Jenny Parsons at art school and they married in 1964, and both became teachers with David teaching at Central St Martin’s, London 1985-1997. After taking early retirement, they set up their home at Béziers in Languedoc, Southern France, but around 2010 returned to live The Laburnums, Hoxne Road, Eye, Suffolk. David is a landscape artist and the decision to leave their large French house with two separate art studios was a difficult decision, having owned their French home for some 30 years and living there full-time for 10 years. However, at Eye they were able to turn existing outbuildings into separate studio space where they paint during the day. David looks at the world and the elements which make up a scene capturing the different layers, lines, and features. His images can be viewed as bold, dynamic, graphic representations of the world almost sculptural. David has had solo exhibition at Gallerie Mercure, Beziérs, France and with his wife Jenny had their first joint exhibition at Wingfield Barns in Suffolk and he exhibited at the John Russell Gallery in Ipswich and elsewhere. David Thomas Parsons died on 21 November 2019, being survived by his wife Jenny and their two sons.
