ARCEDECKNE, Anne Harriet
As Anne Harriet Beckford, she was born on 30 June and baptised at St Mary Marylebone, London on 30 July 1795, daughter of Francis Love Beckford (died 1838) of Basing Park, Hampshire and his wife Johanna Lloyd née Leigh. Anne married at St George Hanover Square, Westminster, London on 29 August 1816, her cousin Andrew Arcedeckne (1780-1849), High Sheriff of Suffolk 1819-1820 and Member of Parliament for the rotten borough of Dunwich 1826-1831, of Glevering Hall, Wickham Market, Suffolk. The Glevering Hall Estate had been purchased in 1791 by Chaloner Arcedeckne (1743-1809), a plantation owner in Jamaica, who built the present mansion in 1794 to a design of John White the Elder and his son, Andrew Arcedeckne expanded the building 1834-5 to a design of Decimus Burton. In 1935 the house was purchased by the Hurlock family and remains a private house. The Arcedeckne's also had a London house at Cock Yard, Westminster, London from where Anne was an art student of Henry Bright sometime during his twenty years of practice in London 1836-1856. Andrew and Anne had issue, Louisa Arcedeckne and Andrew (1822-1871). As Ann Harriet Arcedeckne, she died at her London home, 1 Grosvenor Square on 27 March 1878.
