DENYER, Alfred

1856 - 1925

Alfred Denyer was born at Bedford in 1856, second child of James Denyer (23 April 1822-1886), a schoolmaster, and his wife Charlotte Matilda née Hine (1822-1895), who married at Moulton, Northampton on 12 May 1845. In 1871, Alfred was a 15-year-old, living at Princes Street, Bedford with his parents, 49-year-old James and 48-year-old Charlotte, with siblings Anna 19, James 9 and Charlotte 6. Alfred studied at Northampton School of Art 1873 and passed his examination in perspective and drawing at the Lincoln British School of Science and Art 1894. He married at Lincoln on 17 August 1881, Fanny Whitton (1856-1896) and was Art Master at Bedford School of Art. In 1891, a 34-year-old art master, living at Bromham Road, Bedford with his 34-year-old wife Fanny, who died at Bedford in 1896 when he moved to Lowestoft, Suffolk. By 1900, an artist, living at Cliff Gardens Road, Pakefield, Lowestoft and he exhibited thirteen works at Suffolk Street Galleries 1882-1893. Alfred Denyer died at the White House, Church Road, Kirkley, Lowestoft on 16 November 1925, aged 69. Author of 'Linear Perspective for the use of Schools of Art'
