LINES, Florence Alice
Florence Alice Lines was born at Shirenewton, Monmouth in 1883 and baptised at St Thomas a Beckett Church in March 1883, where her father was curate, daughter of Revd Michael Davey Lines (1854-19 May 1918), clerk in holy orders, and his wife Julia Wilcox (1852-1929), second daughter of John Wilcox of Upper Holloway, who married at St Paul's Church, Upper Holloway, London on 30 March 1880. In 1891, Florence was an eight-year-old, living at 40 Colebrook Row, Islington with her parents, 37-year-old Michael, born at Southwark and 39-year-old Julia, born in the city of London and her younger sibling, 5-year-old Stanley. In 1894 her father was instituted to the vicarage of Yoxford in Suffolk and in 1901 the family were living at Yoxford Vicarage. In 1911, Florence was a 28-year-old teacher of English Language, living with her parents at Yoxford Vicarage and in 1921 was living with her widowed mother at Church Cottage, Elevesfields, Tewkesbury, Eldersfield, Worcestershire. Florence exhibited from Yoxford, Suffolk at the Society of Women Artists at 6a Suffolk Street, London in 1918. In 1939, Florence Alice Lines was a resident at County Mental Hospital, Hatton, Warwick, and she died at 384 Tedsall Lane, Northfield, Birmingham on 14 July 1971, she was unmarried.
