ROBERTS, Llewellyn Russell
Llewellyn Russell Roberts was born at Islington, London in 1865, eldest child and only son of Frederick Roberts and his wife Mary née Kemp, who married at Islington in 1863. In 1871 his 35-year-old mother Mary, who was born at Chester, was a widow and a fancy shopkeeper, living at Upper Brook Street, Ipswich with her three children Llewellyn, Adelaide Russell and May Russell, all born at Islington. Llewellyn studied at Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 passed out with a certificate of excellence in Model Drawing. In 1881, a 16-year-old carpenter & joiner, living at 19 Park Terrace, Fonnereau Road, Ipswich with his 45-year-old mother, now a teacher of languages, with siblings Adelaide Russell 14 and Amy Russell 13. Llewellyn married at Ipswich in 1886, Elizabeth Jane Keeble and in 1891, a 26-year-old carpenter & painter, living at Retreat Place, Parkstone, Poole, Dorset with his 25-year-old wife Elizabeth and three children, Lilian Amy 4, Elsie M. 2 and newly born Bertha G., all born in Dorset. By 1911 they had moved to Branksome, Hadleigh Road, Frinton-on-sea, Essex where he was living with his wife and further three sons, Ernest Llewellyn 18, born Dorset and Gilbert Clarence 12 and Wilfred Cyril 11, both born at Easleigh, Hampshire. Llewellyn Russell Roberts died at Great Bealings, Woodbridge, Suffolk on 24 December 1929, aged 84.
