RIDLEY, Flora
Flora Ridley was born at Mildenhall, Suffolk on 3 December 1864, daughter of Edward Ridley (22 December 1817-20 January 1886), a grocer & draper in the High Street, Mildenhall, and his wife Esther Ann Cook (7 November 1819-1 August 1909), youngest daughter of Benjamin Cook of Bury St Edmund's, who married at the Independent Chapel, Northgate Street, Bury St Edmund's on 6 June 1843. Flora studied at Ipswich School of Science & Art and in 1880 gained her certificate in freehand drawing. By 1881 the family had moved to Ipswich where 16-year-old Flora was a scholar, living at Willoughby Road with her parents, 63-year-old Edward, now a retired draper, and 61-year-old Esther, with two siblings Anne 34, born Kings Lynn, Norfolk, and Augusta 26, born Mildenhall and both were school-mistresses. By 1891 Flora was a governess still at Willoughby Road, Ipswich with her widowed mother Esther. Flora married at Ipswich in 1895, Harry Miller Ennals (26 September 1868-2 January 1950), manager to a chemical manure manufacturer. In 1901 Flora was living at Cranford, Park Road, Ipswich with her 32-year-old husband and newly born daughter Joyce Caroline [Marston] and in 1911, Flora was still living in Park Road, her husband was in South Africa on business, with two more children Stuart Ridley 9 and Ruth Marjorie 6. In 1921, Harry Miller Ennals was managing director of Ipswich chemical company Joseph Fison and they were living at 26 Park Road, Ipswich with their two children. By 1939 Flora and Harry had moved to 33 Graham Road, Ipswich. Flora Ennals died at 33 Graham Road, Ipswich on 28 September 1947.
