ASTLE, John
John E. Astle studied graphic design at Reigate School of Art and Guildford Art Schools. Which was followed by a career in advertising, teaching at Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, working on a daily newspaper, running a printer's design department and then a founder partner in a graphic design practice. During this time, he also drew, painted, and photographed as a hobby and when he left London for Dorset it was then that he applied himself to life drawing and portraiture. Now retired he currently runs a portrait painting group in Spain during winter months and paints and exhibits in Suffolk during the summer. John is a member of the Suffolk Art Society and of the Bury St Edmund's Art Society.
