BRYSON, Alice Margaret
Alice Margaret Bryson was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland on 25 January 1891, her sister is Ethel Duncan Bryson (1887-1968) with whom she lived for many years. In 1918 she was working for the British Red Cross Society Volunteers at Woodbank, Holywood, Dumfriesshire having previously worked at the Red Cross Central Workrooms, Burlington House, London. In 1933, she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 204 Addison House, Grove End Road, London N.W.8, a watercolour 'Tree Study' she also exhibited at the Society of Graphic Fine Art at Southsea in 1934 a chalk drawing 'A Dorset Barn' and at Winchester Art Club in 1938 'Chalk Pit' and a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy. In 1939, 'on private means' living at The Royal Glen Hotel, Glen Road, Sidmouth, Devon. Alice Margaret Bryson died at Brendon House, Park Road, Winchester, Hampshire on 19 January 1987, she was unmarried.
