MILES-ATKINSON, Marjorie

1880 - 1954

As Marjorie Pulleyne, she was born at Leeds, Yorkshire on 10 March 1880, daughter of Benjamin Colet Pulleyne (1830-25 September 1907), a solicitor, and his wife Susanna[h] née Dunn (1852-8 December 1934), who married at Patrington, Leeds on 9 November 1870. In 1901, Marjorie was a 21-year-old, living at 25 Bainbrigge Road, Headingly, Leeds with her parents, 60-year-old Benjamin and 49-year-old Susannah with five siblings, Collet Cresswell 28, Paul 20, Pansy 16, Audrey 15 and Daphne 13, all born at Leeds. Marjorie married at Ripon, Yorkshire in 1913, Charles Christopher Atkinson (13 August 1871-31 July 1966), when they took the additional name of Miles-Atkinson. In 1921 her widowed mother Susanna Pulleyne was living at 19 Stradbroke Road, Southwold, Suffolk with a son and a daughter. As Mrs M. Miles-Atkinson, she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Society from Southend House, Out Southgate, Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1933, two watercolours 'Summer Clouds' and 'Near Walberswick'. In 1939, she was living at Southend House, Bury St Edmund's with her husband Charles and their unmarried daughter Marjorie Maynard Miles-Atkinson (11 October 1915-12 July 2005). Marjorie, sen. was of Southend House, Bury St Edmund's when she died at Osborn Nursing Home, Thetford, Norfolk on 24 April 1954.
